Our interdisciplinary project team is drawn from researchers based in the Social, Economic and Geographical Sciences Department and the Informational and Computational Sciences Department at the James Hutton Institute, Aberdeen. Colleagues from The Robert Gordon University (Michele Victoria, Vishakha Chawla - Scott Sutherland School of Architecture and Built Environment) and Gray's School of Art (Daniel Sutherland) will be joining the project in 2024.
Tony Craig is an environmental psychologist and Head of Social, Economic and Geographical Sciences Dept at the James Hutton Institute. He is interested in people/environment studies and behaviours, and has done research on sustainable lifestyles and pro-environmental behaviours at work.
Alice Hague is an environmental social scientist with interests in the politics of climate change, sustainability transitions, and the circular economy, often looking at how different levels of governance interact to deliver policy.
Kathryn Colley is a social scientist with a focus on person-environment relationships. Kathryn’s research centres on understanding behaviours (e.g. around material consumption, travel, energy use) and facilitating behaviour change at the individual and household levels.
Jianyu Chen is a researcher in People-Environment studies and Behavioural Modelling. Jianyu has a background in environmental psychology and human geography, and his research interests focus on the social representations and related social practices.
Graciela Martínez Sánchez is a socio-economic statistician at Biomathematics and Statistics Scotland (BioSS). Her work experience is focused on quantitative methods for the analysis of categorical and multivariate data.
Altea Lorenzo-Arribas is a socio-economic statistician at Biomathematics and Statistics Scotland (BioSS) and her research focuses on topics connecting people and the environment.
Tami Wooldridge is a qualitative research assistant with a background in sustainable development and social anthropology. Tami’s research interests include community engagement with climate change, human-environment relationships, the circular economy and materiality.
Phoebe Somervail is a research assistant with a background in psychology and public health, and research interests in environment and human health, the circular economy, and climate change.
Fiona Bender a research assistant whose background is in psychology. Fiona’s research interests are centred around the circular economy as well as the health, wellbeing and behaviours of individuals.
